The Work and Study programme is designed for students who want to improve their English while experiencing life in Ireland. Our curriculum includes 15 hours of General English classes per week and is suitable for all proficiency levels, from elementary to advanced.
The programme focuses on English language development through structured classroom learning and practical communication. Students also have time outside of class to practise their English and experience everyday life in Ireland.
Students enrolled in eligible programmes may have permission to work in Ireland in accordance with current immigration regulations. This permission is granted under Irish immigration rules and is not part of the academic programme.
In addition to classes, ELI organises social activities and weekend tours that allow students to explore Ireland, practise their English in real-life situations, and experience Irish culture.
Non-European students must study for a minimum of 25 weeks (6 months) as a condition of their work and study visa. The 8-month visa period includes: 25 weeks of English tuition leading to an official exam; and a 2-month/8-week holiday.

Non-EU students on 25-week (34 Week Visa) programs can work part-time (20 hours per week during terms and 40 hours per week during defined holiday periods).
Non-EU students can stay up to 2 years as an English student in Ireland, taking up to three consecutive 8-month courses.
Non-EU students who have relevant skills and experience may be sponsored by Irish employers for a General Work Permit with a salary of €30,000 or more.
